Mrs. Pam Greteman

Welcome to 5th grade at St. John the Baptist School!

My name is Mrs. Pamela Greteman, but most of my students just call me Mrs. G.  I was born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, where I graduated from Montana State University with a Masters' degree in Statistics several years ago.  I met and married my husband, Kevin, while he was a naval submarine officer.  Because of his job, I’ve lived on both coasts of the United States and have driven through many of the other states over the years visiting family or moving to a new place.  We landed in San Jose back in 1995, where we decided to settle and raise our family.  After spending numerous hours as a volunteer in my three children’s classrooms, I became a teacher for the first time in 2005.  I have been fortunate to teach a variety of grade levels throughout my career in education, but I have to say 5th grade is my favorite because of the exciting curriculum!  I have worked for the Diocese of San Jose since 2015, serving as Principal of St. Mary School in Gilroy for three years, then as a Director of Instruction for four schools within the Diocese for two years, and now, as the 5th-grade teacher here at St. John the Baptist.  I am thrilled to be back in the classroom on a more permanent basis as I enjoy facilitating students in their learning process and missed working with them directly!

I strive to make my 5th-grade classroom a comfortable environment that respects the individual, invites all questions, and develops a lifelong passion for learning.   In the weeks and months ahead, our class will experience decimals and fractions in mathematics, investigate the world of science, discover our nation’s history, delve into our imaginations through literature, reflect on the seven sacraments in religion, and much more.  My favorite subjects to teach are math and science, but I also love talking about the places I’ve lived and visited. All that moving around as a military family certainly helps with recalling the geography of the United States!  I truly believe that learning and growth develop within the classroom when students, parents and teachers work as a team to create the best possible experience for each student individually.
