Welcome to St. John the Baptist for another great school year! My name is Myriam Fuentes and I am very excited to be your child’s teacher. I will start by telling you a little about myself.
I grew up in San Jose and have lived in the Bay Area my entire life. Prior to becoming the 3rd grade teacher, I had the opportunity to aide and work with students from grades K – 5th. Having the opportunity to work with students in different grades, I fell in love with 3rd grade. I joined St. John the Baptist School in 2013 as the after school Pre-K aide and later became the Pre-K teacher. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies with a minor in Social Work from San Jose State University. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I have always enjoyed helping others learn and grow.
My philosophy of teaching is that every child is capable of learning and they learn best when they are in an environment in which they feel welcomed, safe, and comfortable to be themselves.
Your third grader is in store for many fun, meaningful and exciting learning experiences this year. I feel strongly that in order for the school year to be successful, it is necessary for the child, teacher, and parent(s)/guardian(s) to work closely together throughout the school year.
