Tuition Assistance

December 16, 2021  ·  Updated: December 16, 2021

Dear SJBS Community,

I hope that your families are well as we approach the feast of Christmas.

One of my most important priorities as a principal is to make a Catholic education at St. John the Baptist School available to as many children as possible. I believe in our mission as a school and both our program's current strength and its great potential for growth as well. We know that current economic challenges have made it more difficult than ever for many to afford our school without tuition assistance. For the last several years, our school has received an increasing amount of tuition assistance from the Diocese and has budgeted for a growing amount of assistance direct from the school itself.  As this tuition assistance continues to grow, our school can offer more support as needed to committed families who are already in our school community or new families who seek to live this mission with us by enrolling in the school.

I am reaching out to let you know that tuition assistance applications are available for the school year 2022-23.
This year, the primary due date for tuition assistance applications is February 14, 2022.  Applications will continue to be accepted after that time.  However, February 14 is the date given by the diocesan Department of Catholic Schools as the cut-off for determining the amount of money given to each school to support tuition assistance needs.

Applications should be made through FACTS Grant and Aid. The link to the applications is: FACTS Grant and Aid Application.  Tuition figures for 2022-23 will be published by the school in January, several weeks ahead of the February 14th date from the Diocese.

The amount of tuition assistance support our school receives from the Diocese depends on the total amount of need determined through FACTS Grant and Aid. In addition, the Diocesan "Guardian Angel Program" (GAP) assistance is based on financial need established through FACTS as well. GAP scholarships are available to families new to the school and to current families with new students entering (see attached GAP information sheet). Typically, the more parents who apply for and qualify for assistance, the more opportunity for the school to receive assistance from the diocese to be allocated to families. As we know, neither this assistance nor a specific amount of assistance is ever guaranteed.

Each year, we try to increase our tuition assistance budget and allocation in order to more effectively and equitably support the needs of current and prospective families.  As a school community, we want to offer a Catholic education to an ever-expanding group of students.  Driven by our mission, our ultimate goal is to make an education at St. John the Baptist School available to all.

God bless you and your families,

Mr. Christopher Brazil
Principal
