Welcome to St. John the Baptist for another great school year! My name is Myriam Fuentes, and
I have been part of the amazing St. John the Baptist School community since 2013. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies with a minor in Social Work from San Jose State University, and I have completed my teaching credential work in 2024.
I've always loved working with kids, and I'm thrilled to be able to keep doing what I love. I will always attempt to include fun and engaging activities in our everyday learning because I think that kids learn best via practical experiences when exploring new ideas.
Your third grader is in store for many fun, meaningful and exciting learning experiences this year.
Welcome! My name is Mai Hoang, and I’m thrilled to be the 4th grade teacher here at St. John the Baptist Catholic School! I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a Minor in Special Education from San Francisco State University, and I’m currently pursuing a Master's of Arts in Teaching at Santa Clara University.
I'm excited to be part of the St. John the Baptist School community. Our school is more than just a place to learn; it's a nurturing environment where students grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially. We foster a strong sense of community, where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and valued. My focus on faith, academics, and character development creates a well-rounded education that prepares students for a lifetime of success. I look forward to working together with you to create a positive and enriching learning experience for your child.
My name is Krizia Layam and I have been teaching at St. John the Baptist since 2020. Before working at SJBS I was a preschool instructional aide at a Catholic school in Seattle, Washington, where I also attended the University of Washington for my undergraduate. Go Dawgs! After living in Seattle, I decided to come back home to the Bay Area and received my Masters in Teaching degree from Santa Clara University in 2022.
In my classroom, my goal is for students to not only grow academically, but also grow socially, emotionally, and physically. It is important to me that your child feels safe, cared about, and happy when they are in my classroom. I love having fun in the classroom, but also know the importance of having a structured and organized learning environment.
Outside of school, I love spending most of my free time outdoors going on hikes, camping, and exploring new places. I also love trying new restaurants. When I’m stuck indoors, I enjoy reading a good book, playing video games and watching the latest movies or TV shows. I am also a huge sports fan and especially love watching the Warriors, Sharks, and Niners!
