St. John the Baptist School is more than just your ordinary Catholic school. It becomes your second family. You will come to know everyone's name; the staff, the teachers, the students and the parents, too.
All of our teachers have kind, warm hearts. They're easy to approach and easy to talk to. They teach us a lot about math, English, social studies, and science, but most of all, they teach us about religion. They also have interesting activities so that you can learn in a fun environment. We do a lot of art in middle school. We learn about a famous artist and his or her work. Then we get to make a reproduction of one of their art pieces. We also are allowed to create skits and projects at the end of every chapter in social studies and in religion as well.
Religion is an important part of our school day. Every morning we assemble outside to say our morning prayers together. Before lunch, we also say our Grace Before Meals prayer. Then, before we are dismissed at the end of the day we also say a prayer together as a class.
The parents come to know each other and become friends. Many times you will find yourself waiting after school for your parents to stop chatting with another parent or a member of the faculty or staff.
I love this school because we live and learn in a safe, caring Catholic environment. This school shapes us to be good adults when we grow up. This school becomes our family, and you begin to miss it when you are on summer vacation, as I have many times found myself doing. This bond between the school and the students is important to providing a good education. Without it we would not be capable of doing what we can today.
