Extended Day

The St. John's Extended Day Program offers many opportunities for the children to learn and have lots of fun.

  • Assist with Homework
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Seasonal Activities
  • Video Games
  • Television, VCR, and DVD for Movies
  • Supervised and Organized
  • Indoor games - puzzles, memory games, chess, block constructions, play kitchen sets
  • Outdoor games - ball games, hula hoops, and jump ropes, as well as other sports activities as directed by the staff.

SJBS Extended Day Students have adopted Nursing and Veterans homes to send Art & Crafts projects.

The program has an open type structure to enhance and encourage the incredible creativity of the children. Please feel free to set up an appointment with the director if you would like to visit the extended day classroom (408-262-8134)

Availability

Extended Day is available for Kindergartens to eighth grade students. Students not picked up on time after school will be sent to the Extended Day program and charged accordingly.

Hours

The Extended Day service is offered from 6:30 am - 8:00 am and then again from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Extended Day closes at 6:00 pm. The program is open Monday through Friday when school is in session. Extended Care is not offered on school holidays.

Rates

The standard rate per child using the Extended Day Program is $6.00 for the first hour or any part thereof and a flat rate of $16.00 for any use of the program after the first hour.

Late Pick-Up

Children should be picked up no later than 6:00 pm. Time spent in the program after 6:00 pm will incur an additional late fee of $15.00 per every 15 minute interval. These charges will be added to the regular fees and are charged per child.

Payments

Due dates for payments are announced at the beginning of the school year. Any late payments will be assessed a late fee charge of $5.00 per day, per child until the account is paid. Students may be excluded from the Extended Day Program until late payments are paid. As always if there is a financial difficulty, please see Mary Narvaes or Mrs. Perkowski before it becomes a program.

Extended Day Rules
  1. We will not tolerate the use of profanity by children or adults in or around the program's facilities.

  2. Fighting, pinching, biting, hair pulling, spitting, name-calling, tantrums, or any other unappreciated behavior is not permitted. Throwing of any items is serious and may be cause for suspension at the discretion of the principal.

  3. Respect for the Extended Day Care Staff is a must! Any disrespectful conduct will result in automatic suspension from the program.

  4. Destroying school or Extended Day property is not allowed.

If any child is deemed a problem in Extended Day and refuses to follow and obey the rules, he/she will be suspended for 2-3 days from the program. If the problem continues the child will be expelled from the program for the remainder of the school year.

Clothing

Any child may bring a change of clothes for after school as long as it is in compliance with the St. John the Baptist School Handbook.

Check-In

At dismissal any child not picked up will automatically be sent to the Extended Day Program and you will be responsible for any charges incurred during the child's stay. Students are checked into the program by our staff. In order for a student to be checked out of the program an authorized individual must sign for the student. The program maintains current copies of the authorization form for every student.

Study Time

Study/homework time is provided for one hour Monday - Thursday. Although the extended day staff are not tutors, they will assist student with homework as needed.
